While most kids in Colorado might be enjoying the alternating sunny and snowy days of spring break and counting the days until school lets out for the summer, Vail Resorts is planning a treat for them during the 2015-2016 school year! Vail Resorts has just announced it’s new Epic SchoolKids program, and we think it’s amazingly epic!
Formerly known as the School of Shred program for fifth and sixth grade students, the new Epic SchoolKids program has expanded to offer free skiing and riding to all Colorado kids from kindergarten through fifth grade next winter! Beginning this week and through Memorial Day, kids can have their parents enroll them as an Epic SchoolKid for the next school year. Kids just need to show up to a front range Colorado Ski & Golf, or Boulder Ski Deals store with a parent and a copy of their report card, school ID or birth certificate to register.
Renamed “Epic SchoolKids Colorado Pack”, the program provides a total of sixteen days of free skiing: four days at each of the best resorts in their backyard – Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone. In addition, Epic SchoolKids can hone their skills at the ivy league of ski schools with a free full-day beginner lesson and equipment rentals at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge or Keystone in the month of January 2016, outside of holiday periods, as part of Learn to Ski & Ride Month.
The program is gaining a lot of support from parents in Colorado. “Colorado kids are in a most enviable position having the Rocky Mountains on their doorstep”, said Governor John Hickenlooper. “As a Colorado-based company, Vail Resorts is providing a tremendous opportunity for our community, our families and our kids, to get outside, explore the mountains, and learn and play in the outdoors. Opening up the possibility for kids’ participation in snowsports – some who may never before have dreamed that they could enjoy such an experience – is an important effort in ensuring that Colorado is the healthiest state in the country for generations to come.”
“Fostering a love for skiing and snowboarding in kids is a top priority for Vail Resorts,” explains Kirsten Lynch, chief marketing officer of Vail Resorts. Snowgrrl thanks Vail Resorts for such an awesome new program and hopes Colorado kids will take full advantage of it!
