Seems to Snowgrrl like the Swedes have a corner on the market for clothes that help us look hot while staying warm — which is snowgrrl’s philosophy too! SKHOOP generously provided snowgrrl with a SKHOOP Short Down Skirt to test in the mountains of Vail and the chilly city of Denver this winter. SKHOOP specializes in “smart clothing for active people,” and is truly THE ORIGINAL SKIRT COMPANY, though they also offer merino wool base layers, colorful wool and cotton beanies, headbands and socks. Sissi Kewenter of SKHOOP says “the most important thing for us is being outdoors, enjoying life, and gaining energy. The most unexpected, unimaginable, exciting events can occur” outdoors, you never know when an extra skirt will come in handy! SKHOOP aims to make being outdoors easy.
Snowgrrl tried the Short Down Skirt in silver from the 2015/16 line. This skirt fully met exceeded our expectations. It seems to be made with women like us in mind. It is insulated with cozy 500 fill power down and features a full zip on one side, as well as a zippered pocket on each side and a flattering cut that is a bit shorter in front, longer in back. It’s windproof, water-resistant, and PFOA free. Snowgrrl loved wearing the short skirt with NILS base layers around town. Because of the full zipper on the left side of the skirt, you can actually slip it on/zip it up over ski pants, slide your pants off, and still have cute coverage over your base layers. This feature makes the skirt a perfect transition piece for apres ski — whether you want to get out of your ski pants because they’re too hot to wear inside, or just want to look more feminine while sipping your hot chocolate. Also worth mentioning is that quite a few compliments were proffered when this skirt made its debut on a cold winter morning at the tony new Cherry Creek North Starbucks. Several patrons indicated that they’ll check on the details and see if they can get their hands on one too!
In short, snowgrrl found the SKHOOP skirt to make a wonderful addition to the active woman’s “sleek & sophisticated” winter wardrobe!
